HỌC MÃI: IMPROVING HEALTH CARE THROUGH RESEARCH A JOINT RESEARCH MEETING BETWEEN VIÊT NAM AND AUSTRALIA

 One of the aims of Học Mãi, the Australia Viêt Nam Medical Foundation is to enable healthcare research within Viêt Nam. To coincide with the 3rd Học Mãi Conference “Improving Healthcare through Research”, the Học Mãi Foundation is calling for applications for research projects that will help build research capacity in Viêt Nam.This funding program seeks to stimulate health research that is likely to have a direct effect on patient care or health care provision. The research projects should address a health care issue or a policy area that is relevant and important in Viêt Nam. Applications should describe the issue being addressed, why it is important to address it, who the research teams are and how the research will make a difference to patient health outcomes. Applications should be a maximum of 4 pages. They must include:1. A clear research question2. A background that summarizes the clinical issue or problem being addressed3. Research methodology to be used to answer the research question4. A summary of the ethical clearances required 5. A description of the research team summarizing previous research experience6. Expected Outcomes7. A budget8. CV of key investigator from Viêt Nam
These research projects will be conducted and managed in Viêt Nam by the successful project research recipients with Australian mentorship. The primary applicant must be Viêt Namese who will be resident in Viêt Nam for the duration of the project. The projects are to be completed by December 2014 and funds will be available from February 2012. Viêt Namese applicants are strongly encouraged to prepare their applications with a co-investigator from Australia.It is anticipated that a number of grants will be awarded up to a value of AUD,000 each.
